The story
Although this vibrant mixed-media artwork depicts a dynamic fusion of Indian classical dance, mythology and intricate floral patterns, it represents the unapologetic and hypnotic love of Devi Parvati for Almighty Lord Shiva.
In the foreground, Devi Parvati has been captured mid-dance, entranced, with her long, dark hair flowing behind her. Behind her stands her love, her Lord, her everything: an ethereal, blue-hued Lord Shiva, identifiable by his third eye, the crescent moon and the trident (trishul) symbol positioned above.
The artwork combines fluid watercolor and acrylic washes with detailed, highly intricate black-and-white penwork in pigment ink (resembling mandala or Madhubani style) that frames the central scene. A few 3D elements, such as acrylic and plastic beads, have also been used, which add a unique dimension to the painting. Dense, ornate floral and botanical patterns frame the composition on both the left and right sides, creating a natural arch that draws focus towards the dancing figures.
