The story
This artwork is an intricate, highly detailed mixed-media collage board (often referred to as journaling art or scrapbooking collage). It features a rich blend of vintage aesthetic elements, nature motifs and layered textures.
Key visual elements and themes
The piece is heavily embellished with paper cutouts, decals and 3D floral accents in various colors, including soft pinks, deep blues, purples, greens and creamy whites. Green vines, leaves and dried, pressed flowers weave throughout the canvas. Delicate 3D paper butterflies with translucent or pastel wings are layered across different sections, adding dimension. It also brings together a few female characters representing the artist’s own self at various stages of her life, with light hair and a crown-like headpiece. Several arched windows, vintage doorways and balcony cutouts are scattered throughout, creating a sense of looking into secret garden rooms or fantastical spaces. The silhouette figures, fashion dress forms, mannequins and vintage figure cutouts are her tribute to the designer she is.
